THE Waterwheel Gallery in Warburton is forging ahead with its latest exhibition, Magic Metal Makeovers.
The exhibition by the Wandin Blacksmiths’ Group opened on Saturday with exactly the diverse range of pieces you would expect when you empower four men and one woman with a hammer, a blazing forge and the challenge of creating amazing metalwork.
The individual approach to the craft of the artisans, Fritz Rappold, Paul Cacioli, Evelyn Young, Terry Marshall, and Oscar Huecherig, makes for an exciting exhibition of works from the practical to the purely and delightfully decorative.
All sorts of things from dragons and candlesticks to fireside sets, shipwrecks, gumleaf key rings, miniature tools and prickly flowers are reconstructed from everyday cutlery!
The exhibition showcases the passion and skill members of the group have for the ancient craft of blacksmithing, with all the pieces hand-made in the traditional way.
Works can be purchased, or orders taken.
It’s the first exhibition by the group outside their home base of Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead in Wandin and will be on show until 31 August.
