WARBURTON BOWLS
For such a small club, the Warburton Bowls Club certainly punches above its weight!
In a thrilling finish, Warburton 1 held off Darebin City 1 to win by two shots – 77 to 75 – at Doncaster on Saturday to win the White Flag as the best Victorian Bowls Association Metropolitan Division 2 side.
Congratulations to all the players for a wonderful team performance!
It was also pleasing to win alongside their Eastern colleagues, Lilydale 1, who won Division 1.
Rink scores were as follows: B. Woods 18/17; P. Woods 18/19; G. Broussard 17/29 and J. Van Der Zweep 24/10.
A fantastic effort from Jason Van Der Zweep in his first season as a skipper and to all his team!
Special thanks to all the club members and supporters, who were right behind the team throughout their finals campaign.
The club has been rewarded for all its hard work since joining the larger metropolitan competition.
Everyone involved should feel extremely proud.
They now look forward to a well-deserved break before preparing for the challenge of Division 1 next season.
New players are needed and welcome to join the club, so it can continue to grow and ensure it can field all three Saturday Pennant Teams next season.

Congratulations to Gary Broussard and Adrian Holmes who won the Club Pairs’ Championship by two shots – 18 to 16 – defeating Rodney McKail and Chris Neale in an exciting final.
With 16 of the 18 ends completed, the score was tied at 16 all, before Gary and Adrian finished with a run.
A reminder to all members the club presentation night will be held at the club on Friday 21 April.
