Doing it for the vets

One of the region’s best-loved bands, Yarra River Band, will be at the Alpine Retreat Hotel in Warburton for a Vietnam Veterans Day Commemoration gig on Sunday, 13 August.
The band, led by John Seegers, has been together for eight years and played at venues throughout the Yarra Valley and beyond.
Joining John, who is the master of guitar and vocals, are Janet Sagebrecht, vocals, Gabe Buller, drums and vocals, Noel ‘Smokey’ Buller, bass and vocals, Daniel Peluso, lead guitar and vocals and Tino Pegoraro on keyboard.
“We are honoured to be invited to play for the Outer Eastern Melbourne Vietnam Veterans Association Commemoration,” John said.
He also previewed two special aspects of the day with bagpipe players accompanying one of their most popular covers, AC/DC’s ‘Long Way to the Top’, and an original song penned by Smokey about the Yarra River that gives the band its name, called ‘The River’s Rising’.
The band will play from 2pm to 5pm, following the Vietnam Veterans Day march and service hosted by Warburton RSL.
