THE Upper Yarra Community House Children’s Centre (UYCHCC) is inviting the public to come and play.
“For generation after generation parents have told stories of how their child preferred to play with a cardboard box rather than the expensive toy inside, and how mess is just part of the course when it comes to children’s play,” said coordinator Sheryl Woods.
Ms Woods said to those who work in early childhood, it’s called child initiated or open-ended play, but to parents with young children and the UYCHCC, she said it was simply how children learnt.
To celebrate the children’s centre’s success and to show the wider community what the UYCHCC offers, the centre held a sausage sizzle on Friday and is holding an Open Week from 17 to 20 March.
For details contact the centre on 5967 2776.
