Students to shine in Creative Showcase

Distant Glow by Tara Hamer (Little Yarra Steiner School)

2021 VCE and VCAL students have been given the opportunity to show artwork in the 2022’s Creative Showcase at The Memo in Healesville.

The exhibition will take place from Friday 4 February to Sunday 27 February, hosted by the Yarra Ranges council in collaboration with Burrinja Cultural Centre, aiming to showcase the works of art and studio art students.

How they tackled the pandemic was a key theme that came through their work and the showcase will provide insight into their resilience.

Tara Hamer from Little Yarra Steiner school in Yarra Junction said it was difficult undergoing VCE during the pandemic.

“I struggled a lot with finding any motivation or inspiration to progress in the subject. I felt artistically burnt out. It was overwhelming to taint a clean page with my art, I didn’t feel good enough, ” Miss Hamer said.

The works will contain varying subject matters through many different mediums, such as photography, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, and drawing.
