MEMBERS of the public are invited to join Healesville Lions Club members for further tree planting at Coronation Park in River Street, Healesville, as part of National Tree Day on Sunday, 31 July.
Thousands of native trees, bushes and grasses have been planted at the park since the project started in 2000 transforming the area.

HEALESVILLE Liberty Family Church leads a weekly review and discussion on the Super Nanny programs each Wednesday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am.
Childcare is provided. Mothers, motherstobe and grandmothers are invited to attend. The program is aimed at helping build strong, healthy families.

Candlebark

BELINDA Gillam and the Yarra Ranges Children’s Choir will entertain at Healesville Rotary Club’s Candlebark afternoon on Sunday, 7 August.
Candlebark is held at the Darron Honey Centre, starting at 2pm, and offering friendship, fun and entertainment for older and isolated members of the community.
Assistance with transport can be provided and new guests are always welcome.

Fire education

EVAN Thomas, community education officer with the CFA, will give a public talk on fire safety in the home on Monday, 1 August between 10.30am and noon.
The session is free and limited transport is available for a small cost.

Trolley rides

YARRA Valley Tourist Railway is operating trolley rides from Healesville through the Tunnel to Tunnel Hill Block Post on Sunday, 31 July, between 10am and 5pm.
Rides commence every hour from Healesville Railway Station.

Transport

YARRA Ranges Community Access Project and the Shire of Yarra Ranges will host an awareness seminar on services and transport options provided for the frail, aged and people with disabilities and their carers on Monday, 8 August starting at 9.30am.
The venue is the former Shire Offices in Yarra Junction.

YARRA Glen Dance Group’s Annual Charity Ball will be held from 8pm to midnight on Saturday, 30 July, at Yarra Glen Memorial Hall.

Italian health

CANCER Council Victoria is presenting a health information session for older Italian people on Ageing Well at Wandin Senior Citizens’ Centre on Wednesday, 17 August.
Spoken in Italian, the session includes advice on eating well, exercise and healthy lifestyle.

Guiding lights

ACHERON Region Guides Mooroolbark through to Yarra Glen, Healesville and Warburton are looking for enthusiastic women aged 18 and over to become unit helpers and guide leaders.

YARRA Valley Bird Observers Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.45pm at Healesville Sanctuary Theatrette.
