Historic home lost in blaze

ONE OF Seville’s original guest houses has been destroyed in an early morning fire this morning.
Up to 11 CFA units responded to the fire, which was reported just after 6am.
The fire was discovered by the male owner of the Seymour Street house, who was asleep at the time the blaze started and escaped unharmed.
He and his partner, who returned from work in Melbourne after being notified of the fire, were assisted by firefighters with blankets and some retrieved items of clothing as they stood in the cold.
They said they were shocked at the loss of their home and a significant part of Seville’s history, but grateful no-one was hurt, and thankful to the brigades.
Brigades from Seville, Wandin, Mount Evelyn, Hillcrest, Yellingbo, Monbulk and the Bayswater Breathing Apparatus unit attended.
The cause of the blaze is unknown at this stage.
