WHYLD Community Group’s annual Winter Warming to be held on Sunday (17 June) has sadly turned into a ‘Winter Warning’ with the group announcing this morning that the event has been cancelled due to the predicted extreme weather.

“We want Winter Warming to be memorable, not miserable, and so we made the call,” WHYLD committee member Meryl Knoll said.

Ms Knoll said the weather forecast for this weekend was for a a wintry blast with up to 20 mm rain on each day and the potential hail and snow on the nearby ranges.

“We felt that such conditions would be uncomfortable, to say the least, for the more than 50 volunteers, including CFA, SES, Red Cross and WHYLD, involved in setting up and running the event, but even worse for those braving the elements to come out and support us.

Ms Knoll is asking people to spread the word to friends and contacts to avoid disappointment for people travelling out to Wickhams Reserve on Sunday.
