Cheers to 10 years of Wine & Wildlife at Healesville Sanctuary

Healesville Sanctuary is excited to welcome people to the special wine event.

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Wine & Wildlife, Healesville Sanctuary has teamed up with Fireside Yarra Valley to welcome visitors to live like a local for one very special weekend, Saturday, 16 July & Sunday, 17 July, in one magical location.

Visitors are encouraged to throw on their winter woollies and meander through the Sanctuary’s iconic bushland surrounds with a BPA-free, reusable wine glass in hand to taste delicious drops and brews from some of the region’s most prestigious producers.

Healesville Sanctuary Director Ross Williamson said, “It’s wonderful to have Wine & Wildlife return to Healesville Sanctuary. The event is in its tenth year which makes it extra special.”

“The bushland setting looks amazing during winter and there will be plenty of opportunities to sample great Yarra Valley wines.”

The pop-up cellar doors will keep wine enthusiasts occupied, while a hearty winter menu will nourish the soul and refuel between viewings of the Sanctuary’s native animal species.

Visitors can also take their pick of warming stations – huge tepees and open fires – and enjoy live acoustic tunes besides the bonfire.

Producers include Oakridge Wines, St Huberts, DeBortoli, Zonzo Estate, Punt Road Wines, Boat O’Craigo, Helen & Joey Estate, Tokar Estate, Matilda Bay Brewing, Napoleone Cider, Golden Hills Brewery, Sutherland Estate, Greenstone Vineyards, Watts River Brewing, and non-alcoholic distiller Banks Botanical.

Funds from Wine & Wildlife ticket sales help Healesville Sanctuary continue its rescue and rehabilitation of injured wildlife.

Healesville Sanctuary’s wildlife hospital is one of Australia’s largest. Vets and nurses treat thousands of wild animals every year, as well as looking after the health of every animal that calls the Sanctuary home.

A Wine & Wildlife ticket will give visitors access to the entire Sanctuary, including the opportunity to visit the Australian Wildlife Health Centre where the glass-walled public gallery allows everyone to watch the care of the wild and resident animals taking place.

Zoo members and visitors are reminded that all tickets to the Zoo must be pre-booked online. Tickets are now on sale via Zoos Victoria website: zoo.org.au
