Every club needs members like Phil and Ian Garside.

They sponsor the Garside Challenge and 2-Person Ambrose event at Warburton Golf Club and dug deep to make it a fun occasion for the 70 plus who played on 13 November.

The winning pair was Captain Cross and Dave Wappett, who won by .75 of a point, scoring with a nett 58.25.

The runner-up team consisted of Paul Kennedy and Greg Heinrich (guest), with 59 ‘neat’.

For the record, the invincible Garside team came third, with 60.5.

Nearest the pins went to ‘Old-Man-River’ Hubbard (3rd), Dave Wappett (5th), Max Carvill (9th), Junior Garside (12th) and Bruce Bower (guest) on the 15th.

Greg Heinrich had the longest drive on the 16th and Mary Sohlo for the ladies.

The club’s committee and members appreciated the efforts from the Garside’s.

With some pleasant weather to enjoy, scores were impressive at the club’s Thursday twilight event.

The most impressive came from Danny Fox with 20 points.

The runner-up was Darren Wyatt, just a point behind, on 19.

If players scored 16 or better they could collect their ball.

At the club’s stroke and second round of Club Championships on 16 November, great scores were again the order of the day.
