SHIRE of Yarra Ranges mayor Monika Keane has urged residents to keep an eye out for the waste and recycling survey hitting letter boxes shortly.
Residents will receive the survey, which will cover issues such as hard and green waste collections, recycling, fortnightly green waste collections and waste transfer stations.
Councillor Keane said the survey would enable the council to plan future waste and recycling services more effectively.
“We are currently in the process of reviewing our waste services and would like to hear from the community before we proceed,” she said.
One of the issues raised in the survey is the introduction of a fortnightly green waste collection.
“With the increased cost of transporting our waste to landfill sites outside the municipality and the impact on our environment, it’s important we look at ways to encourage recycling and waste minimisation,” Cr Keane said.
“We’re hopeful that feedback from the survey will enable us to plan a service that meets the needs of the community while at the same time protecting our environment.”
Completed surveys should be returned to the council in the reply paid envelopes provided.
