YARRA Valley cluster police officer, Senior Sergeant Vin Butera, has urged residents and business operators to contact him to discuss local policing issues.
Sen Sgt Butera, who was brought to the Yarra Valley in May to help boost management of police resources, said he was keen to hear from people concerned about ongoing anti-social behaviour.
“It has been three months since I started in this job and I’m keen to hear from anyone across the Yarra Valley who has concerns or issues,” he said.
Sen Sgt Butera, who is based at the Healesville police station, said issues relating to anti-social behaviour outside the Healesville Walk Shopping Centre and the Coles Express Service Station, also in Healesville, were being addressed by local police.
“The feedback we are getting is that the problems with anti-social behaviour in these areas have calmed down,” he said.
Sen Sgt Butera said traders at the shopping centre had reported a reduction in nuisance behaviour, loitering, underage drinking and vandalism.
“The feedback we are getting is that it is a lot quieter around the supermarket entrance,” he said.
Sen Sgt Butera said the behaviour of some late night revellers around the Coles Express Service Station on the Maroondah Highway was still causing police some problems.
“We are doing our best to address these problem areas in Healesville and are keen to hear from anyone who would like to talk about these issues, or any other issue. My door is always open,” he said.
