Relay effort nets a cool $30,000

THERE were tears, cheers and $30,000 towards fulfilling the dream of a cancer-free world.
Twenty teams camped out at the Don Road Sporting Complex in Healesville on the weekend for the Cancer Council Relay For Life.
There were 350 people of all ages who took their turn on the relay track between 4pm on Saturday and 10am the next morning.
Relay chairperson Lyndall Parsons said the event had been an amazing experience, which highlighted the way cancer touches so many lives and the courage people – sufferers, carers and loved-ones – have in dealing with it.
She said generosity of individuals, businesses and community groups who had supported the relay has been inspirational.
“Thanks to the efforts of the team members and the support of local businesses, entertainers and emergency services the event has been a huge success.”
