A LONE poppy, growing against the odds, in stony ground near Healesville cemetery struck a chord with local musician David Johnston.
He stopped to take this photo.
“I couldn’t go past this beautiful, bright-red poppy growing wild by the side of the road,” he said.
“The poignancy of this was increased when, moments later, I saw an RSL man selling Remembrance Day poppies outside Coles.
