Life and death crash

AN ELSTERNWICK motorcyclist was killed at Cambarville, between Marysville and Warburton on Sunday.
Police are investigating the collision between the 47-year-old bike-rider and a Nissan Patrol station wagon driven by a 27-year-old Mt Evelyn man who was uninjured.
The collision happened on the Marysville Woodspoint Road just before 5pm.
A collision between two cars on the Black Spur the night before, saw three people taken to hospital and the Maroondah Highway closed to traffic for more than two hours.
Senior Constable Chris Grasby of Healesville Police said the crash happened at about 6.30pm when a driver travelling towards Narbethong lost control of the vehicle and collided with a convertible coming down The Spur.
SES volunteers worked to remove the driver and a passenger from the convertible and all three people were taken to Maroondah Hospital for treatment.
Adding further urgency to the situation, a pregnant Narbethong woman was on the wrong side of the crash site on her way to hospital to give birth.
With contractions five minutes apart, SES volunteers worked quickly to clear a path through and get the anxious driver, and passenger, on their way.
