Brochure reveals hidden treasures

By Kath Gannaway
WARBURTON Community Bank’s new chairman, Bob Murray, and new manager, Darren Pennington, added their congratulations to Warburton Chamber of Commerce on the launch of their Valley of Hidden Treasures tourist brochure recently.
Representing the Warburton Community Bank (partners with Bendigo Bank) as a major sponsor of the brochure, Mr Murray and Mr Pennington were among many community members and tourist and business operators from Wandin through to Warburton who attended the official launch on 20 September.
Mr Murray said the 40,000 brochures, which will be distributed locally, in Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate, would help people find their way to and around the valley.
Congratulating Chamber of Commerce president, Norman Orr, on his dedication in seeing the project through from an idea to the final printing and distribution, Mr Murray said the brochure had been a great community effort which the bank was pleased to support.
The sponsorship is part of the bank’s commitment to supporting community projects in the 3799 postcode area.
Mr Murray said the bank has distributed funds in excess of $200,000 and will announce a further distribution of $125,000 to community projects at their annual general meeting.
After five and a half years of operation, and currently worth more than $72 million, Mr Murray said the bank was well placed to provide the services and facilities people require.
The bank has recently installed a new state of the art ATM, a facility he said was well used by visitors to Warburton and by locals on weekends.
“The Warburton Community Bank will continue to support the community and to do so in bigger and better ways. All we ask is that all members of the community continue to support their own bank. One can’t work without the other,” Mr Murray said.
