Cancer drive is a success

HEALESVILLE women have rallied, and had some fun, throughout October in support of cancer research.
Robyn Suter’s Girls Night In was among a number of events held in support of The Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon campaign to help fund breast cancer research, support services and preventative campaigns.
The night in aid of breast and gynaecological cancer was held at Cafe Beaz and raised $1200.
Annette Stanhope and Julia Flower held a morning tea at their Black Spur Cafe and raised $515 with 30 people enjoying the get-together, Devonshire teas, raffles and an auction.
“We thought if we got a couple of hundred dollars, we would be rapt, but to get more than $500 was wonderful,” Ms Stanhope said.
Carla Symonds and friends raised $740 with an afternoon get-together at Badger Creek.
“I had great support from local businesses and for a first-time effort was very pleased to raise that much.”
In the last six years, supporters of The Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon events have raised over $9 million.
