HEALESVILLE Swimming Club members will take to the water for 12 hours on Sunday, 30 October, to raise funds for cancer research.
The club is holding a 12-hour marathon relay from 6am to 6pm at the Healesville indoor pool and is inviting members of the public to join them.
HSC secretary Beverley Oliver said the Swim-4-Cancer is being held in conjunction with the Healesville Indoor Heated Swimming Pool to raise important funds, but also to raise the profile of the pool within the community.
“The pool has been responsible for thousands of people of all ages and abilities from throughout the Yarra Valley using it 12 months of the year for recreation, rehabilitation, water familiarisation, skill development, training and enjoyment.
“Without this fantastic facility the Healesville Swimming Club may not exist,” Mrs Oliver said.
The HSC would like individuals, community groups and local businesses to get teams together and join in. Ms Oliver said sponsorship will be based on a donation or sponsorship for each 100 metres. Registration and sponsorship forms are available at the pool.
