ANDREW Giblin slammed a fine century for Mount Evelyn as the Yarra Valley Cricket Association’s Round 12 got underway in cool conditions on Saturday.
Mount Evelyn, hosting Seville, won the toss and batted, with Giblin’s 100 almost half the team’s score of 235.
Garth Woodford came into the attack late for Seville taking 4 for 20 with his little medium pacers. In reply, at stumps, Seville are 0 for 21.
Wandin travelled to Queens Park in Healesville and batted first, Jason Rowe 83, Scott Hasan 93 and John Aumann 52 all getting among the runs.
At the conclusion of play Wandin had amassed 8 for 323cc. Healesville will have to bat at about 4.2 runs an over to get there next Saturday.
Yarra Junction, at home, batted first and at day’s end were 9 for 247cc (Stephen Flutter 70, Nathan Fall 34).
Walliker 5 for 92, Troy Pettard 3 for 46 were the leading bowlers for Coldstream.
Woori Yallock travelled to Lilydale to play Silvan at the College and batted first scoring 288.
Andrew Sharp, in fine form this season, reached 80 before being dismissed. He was assisted by Michael King 57 and Danny Hyndman 53.
For Silvan, A. Crowhurst had figures of 5 for 71.
No scores were recorded for the Yarra Panthers versus Warburton-Millgrove match.
This week the Victorian Country Cricket league’s VB Melbourne Country Week is being played.
The YVCA team is competing in Division 3 after winning Premierships in the past two seasons.
The YVCA fixture for the week is, Round 1 Monday February 11 versus Benalla at Broadmeadows, Round 2 Tuesday Feb 12 versus Campaspe at Endeavour Hills, Round 3 Wednesday Feb 13th versus Maryborough at Box Hill and Round 4 Thursday Feb 14th versus Gisborne at Monash University.
The final of the division is on Friday Feb 15th and will be held at Preston.
