Funds offer opens

INFORMATION sessions and a grant writing workshop will put community groups on the front foot when applying for funds under the Shire of Yarra Ranges annual Community Grants Program.
The grants program was launched on Saturday 1 March.
Yarra Ranges councillor Jeanette McRae said the program included two funding streams – one for community projects and another for cultural activities.
“The Community Development Grants stream, funds projects that are community based and foster partnerships between diverse community groups and the Cultural Development Grants program funds projects that engage individuals and groups in the development and delivery of quality arts and heritage activities,” Cr McRae said.
This year, amounts of up to $6000 are available through both programs and applications will close on April 16.
“Many community groups have fantastic ideas that can make a positive difference to their community, but the only thing holding them back is a lack of money,” Cr McRae said.
“The shire’s Community Grants Program is designed to assist these groups and I encourage any group with a great idea to find out more about the program.”
The information sessions will be held from 7pm to 8pm at the shire offices in Lilydale on Wednesday 5 March and at Healesville Memorial Hall on Thursday 6 March.
The Grant Writing Workshop is on Monday 17 March at the Montrose Town Centre from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Copies of the grant guidelines and application forms are available at the shire’s Community Link offices and at www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au., or phone Jackie Elward on 9294 6386.
