LOCKS will be lost next weekend as the World’s Greatest Shave comes around again, and a Healesville campaign is aiming to raise $2000.
Thyme Stanyer and Oskar Mills will both be going under the razor on Saturday 15 March at an event at Healesville’s Grind N Groove.
The pair is aiming to raise $2000 together for the Leukaemia Foundation, which will assist families of those stricken with the disease.
Thyme said that she’s wanted to do the World’s Greatest Shave since she was in high school, and said a driver for her was the support the donations provides.
“It really inspired me, knowing the families would be supported,” she said.
“This is actually helping people straight away.”
Oskar, who had a friend diagnosed with leukaemia in the past, said he shaved his head at the time in support, though not as part of the World’s Greatest Shave.
The pair have raised about $700 so far, but said they were determined to make up the gap and get to their fundraising goal.
Thyme offered a special incentive to those wanting to donate to the cause – the highest donors will get to shave the pair’s heads themselves.
The event at Grind N Groove begins at 7pm on Saturday 15 March, with Tom Richardson performing music over the evening.
Entry to the event is $10, and a percentage will be donated to the Leukaemia Foundation – donations will be taken on the night through cash or credit card.
Tins for the pair’s fundraising effort can be found at Mocha and Lime or Grind N Groove in Healesville, or donations can be made by visiting World’s Greatest Shave www.worldsgreatestshave.com and searching for their names.
