Dog rescued from burning house

CFA firefighters rescued a dog trapped in a burning house in Warburton last week.
The owner of the house had managed to get out of the Clark Avenue building after the fire started about 6pm on Tuesday night, 8 April, but her dog was trapped inside.
Warburton CFA captain Tony van Meurs said the property was extensively damaged with the fire starting in the bottom section of the split-level house and spreading into bedrooms at the back.
“There was extensive damage to the back and underneath of the house and the lady was quite frantic about her dog which was still in the house when we arrived.
“We are able to get the dog out, and also managed to save a lot of artefacts from inside the house,” he said.
Mr van Meurs said on Wednesday that the cause of the fire was unknown and that fire investigators were expected to do a full probe in daylight.
