FOR every mobile phone that Yarra Ranges residents recycle this month, a native tree will be planted.
Mobile Muster, the official mobile phone recycling program and Landcare Australia, have combined behind the Old Phone, More Trees campaign in the lead-up to World Environment Day on 5 June
“Yarra Ranges residents will not only be able to safely recycle their mobile phones, but also plant more native trees in degraded areas,” Rose Read, manager of the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association, said.
Handsets, batteries, battery chargers and accessories can be recycled at mobile phone retailer and local councils.
