THERE have been enough puddles in February to keep keen rain-spotters reflecting on the fact that although the rainfall is, again, up and down across the Yarra Valley, the water supply dams are, comparatively, well stocked.
The end of month figure for Melbourne’s storage dams was 1,333,859 megalitres or 73.6 per cent of capacity.
Keith Thomas in Warburton recorded 67mm against the average 69.5mm, with the first two months of the year registering 127.5mm, just short of the average of 148.2mm.
In Hoddles Creek, Doug Armstrong recorded 78mm over seven days compared to 62mm over five days in 2014. His first two-month figures were 137mm compared to 90mm last year against an average rainfall of 76mm – so a bit above.
Alma Mitchell in Healesville recorded 59.4mm over five days compared with 29.6mm over six days for February, 2014.
