IT has been sad to see so many small businesses close in towns like Yarra Glen over the years.
It is also confusing to see locals drive past these businesses to shopping centres further down the highway.
Local business needs local support to survive.
Small towns know how to support each other in tough times and recent tragedies attest to Yarra Glen’s special character.
Let’s please remember the people who pour their livelihood, skills or volunteer work into the local businesses and services for our benefit.
So why not browse the local shops, join a local sporting club, visit the library, and grab a course at the Living and Learning Centre?
You never know, you might find yourself more active, meeting new friends and part of a vibrant community.
Elissa Roper,
Yarra Glen.
