Surprise ninetieth for Norm

Norm said he had no idea of the surprise in store for him when he was “tricked” into stopping off at the Darron Honey Centre.
He and his late wife, Dulcie, moved to Healesville 32 years ago and immediately took an active role in community life, making many friends along the way.
Maggie Slane, past manager of Healesville Hospital, said she could not let such a milestone go without a celebration.
Norm and Dulcie were made life governors of the hospital in recognition of their support over many years.
“Norm is a remarkable man who, at 90, is living each day to the fullest and is a wonderful example to others,” Ms Slane said.
Norm said he goes to exercise classes twice a week as much for the friendship, as the health benefits rarely misses his twicedaily walks and still gets along to the RSL to catch up with old friends.
Members of Norm’s church group were also at the party, including special friend Jack Frost.
“I visit Jack twice a week. We’ve sat in the same pew at church for more than 30 years, and we still do every Sunday,” Norm said, who attributes his good health to not smoking, enjoying only the occasional glass of beer and keeping active.
The Mail, however, has it on good authority he does have one indulgence! Never one to lag behind the times, we understand Norm loves his cappuccino.
