AS YARRA Glen Primary School celebrates its 140th year, the Wood family will also be reflecting on their family history.
Frank, Peter and Sam Wood are third, fourth and fifth-generation students of the school.
Frank’s grandfather Jack Ellis attended the school in the late 1800s and his mother Ede Wood (Ellis) attended in the early 1900s.
While each of them claims to have liked different school subjects with Frank partial to maths, Peter to sport and Grade 2 student Sam a fan of science, they all agree that they are, and were, model students.
While Sam has plenty of “student of the week” awards at home to back his claim, Frank still remembers the corporal punishment inflicted on him by his old teachers.
