UPWEY-Tecoma division three and division six teams celebrated a return to form last Saturday by defeating Cheltenham and Monbulk, respectively, by considerable margins.
With the third side posting a draw against Ringwood, the mood in the clubrooms was much happier than it was after two losses a week earlier.
Selection changes paid off, with eight of the 10 rinks competing finishing the day with good wins. Frank van Vloten and his team took out the sought-after rink-of-the-week award with a 20-shot win over the Monbulk opponents.
With Colin Benson and Simon Gringhuis also posting good wins , the division six side recorded a 23-shot win overall.
Highlight of the day was the performance of recruit Steven Rome. Having his first game at pennant level, Rome showed exceptional ability to continually outplay his opponent and help his teammates come up with a 16-shot win.
Best-performed rink in the division three side was that skipped by Tom Perry. Stuart Allen, moved to this rink as third to Perry, proved to be the main stumbling block for the Cheltenham players as his team recorded a 16-shot win.
With the other three rinks also posting wins, the division three side gained maximum points for the match, keeping it in touch with the top four sides on the pennant ladder.
RESULTS: Division 3: Upwey-Tecoma d Cheltenham 120-71. Division 6: Upwey-Tecoma d Monbulk 103-80. Roamers Upwey- Tecoma d Ringwood 44-33.
Winning double to Upwey-Tecoma
