MELBOURNE Cup fever took hold in Yarra Glen with frocks, fillies and fascinators hitting the track to cheer home a winner in the $5000 dollar harness racing feature.
They came to see the Sew- Eurodrive Gold Cup, and crowd favourite Mister Grizzly didn’t disappoint taking it out hard against the rest of the field, and tearing down the straight to give rider Kate Gath a comfortable win in the group one race. Hot Night in Paris came in at second with Julies Equity following close behind.
Yarra Glen racegoers enjoyed the racing carnival atmosphere minus the hustle and bustle of Flemington, with the telecasts of the Melbourne Cup Day races live from Flemington a major drawcard for local punters.
Ladies were dressed to impress, donning the latest in spring carnival flair and finesse, topping off the colour and excitement that has come to characterise the first Tuesday of November.
Fillies have fun at Flemington
