FINDING a space big enough to cater for the energy of 30 to 40 young people is a challenge that has been well and truly met in Yarra Glen.
The Gary Cooper Pavilion, known locally as “The Green Shed’’, more than fits the bill for local youth group [Glen].
The definition of [Glen] for the young people who make their way to the pavilion each Friday night is quite simply “fun’’.
For the past two years, volunteers from Heartland, the Yarra Glen Baptist Church, have coordinated the [Glen] youth group as a fun and engaging place with activities, outings and guest speakers, and which Heartland pastor Mike Baimbridge said addressed life issues from bullying to self esteem.
“The experienced leadership team coordinates activities and offers support and encouragement, as well as a listening ear, in an effort to guide and mentor our up-and-coming leaders,’’ Pastor Baimbridge said.
[Glen] is for young people from Year 5 up, and runs from 6pm each Friday during school terms.
Pastor Baimbridge said Heartland Sunday gatherings, held at Yarra Glen Memorial Hall, were open to everyone.
For more information on Heartland activities, Pastor Baimbridge can be contacted on 0408 143 969.
