A LOG-TRUCK driver had a lucky escape, enduring what are believed to be minor injuries after his truck crashed on the Black Spur this afternoon (Thursday, 5 January).
The Castella man was travelling west on Maroondah Highway at around 2pm when the incident happened about five kilometres from Healesville.
Leading Senior Constable Chris Grasby said it appears the trailer clipped the embankment as the truck came around a bend, tipping the trailer and sending the truck across to the other side of the road into a tree.
Healesville CFA volunteers made the area safe while Healesville police diverted traffic around the crash scene.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Maroondah Hospital with minor injuries.
LSC Grasby said it was another situation where luck had averted a potentially tragic outcome.
“It’s just lucky there were no other cars on the road,” he said.
