From the shiniest coat to the waggiest tail, dogs, cats and all manner of animals and people celebrated spring and the opening of Animals Aid’s new facilities over the weekend.
The event on 24 September was an opportunity for animal lovers to come together and celebrate those special life companions, come together they did, with around 600 people and pooches enjoying the sunshine.
Throughout the day, various competitions were held from choosing the ‘waggiest tail’, to finding the gentlest giant which included a number of towering Great Danes.
The celebrations also acted as an opportunity for Animal Aid to show-off their newest facilities, and the animal welfare organisation unveiled its boarding and grooming facilities.
“We unveiled 52 new state-of-the-art indoor boarding kennels which can be fully heated in winter and fully cooled in summer,” Community Engagement manager, Elle Ammann said.
On the day, three lovable pups were aldo adopted to their forever homes, and Elle said the entire day was amazing and thanked volunteers for their incredible contribution in running the event.
“There were heaps of dogs around and heaps of people, plenty of games to play – a scavenger hunt, pin the tail on the pooch, a photo booth, sausage sizzle … it was just a really great atmosphere,” she said.
