WHAT seemed sure to be a white-wash after the first three sets in Healesville Tennis Club’s Tuesday night grand final turned into an exciting display of the craft when the outcome was decided in the very last set, James Shambrook getting the measure of his opposite number, his father, Steve.
Shane Martin, Steve Shambrook, Marion McDonald and Catheryn Cosson defeated Ross Honeycombe, James Shambrook, Katherine McLeod and Gabby Plunkett in the mixed doubles.
Warburton bowls
IN THE social bowls at Warburton last week, R. Zunneberg, A. Hall and F. Mied emerged winners and on Thursday, R. Zunneberg, L. Woolley and Noel Stone won the trophies.
The Club Singles championship has now reached the finals and in the ladies, Isabel Smieja will play Betty Hawkins and in the men’s, Bob Griffiths and Eric Walsh will battle it out for the championship.
