A minor flood watch warning has been issued for the Upper Yarra River by Vic Emergency.
The Yarra River catchment has received rainfall averaging about 25mm in the Upper Yarra region and about 4mm in the Lower Yarra region since 9am Thursday 8 October.
Rainfall totals of 5-10mm have been forecast for the rest of today. The Watts River catchment has received rainfall averaging about 21 mm since 9am Thursday 8 October. With rainfall totals of 5-10 mm have been forecast for the rest of today.
Water levels of the Yarra River and Watts Rivers at various locations are rising in response to the rain.
Yarra River to Millgrove: The level of the Yarra River at Millgrove is currently at 1.74 metres, and rising. It is expected to peak around the Minor Flood Level (2.00 metres) this evening.
Watts River: The level of the Watts River at Healesville is currently at 2.12 metres, and rising. It is expected to peak around the Minor Flood Level (2.60 metres) this evening.
Yarra River from Millgrove to Coldstream: The level of the Yarra River at Coldstream is currently at 2.71 metres, and rising. It is expected to peak around the Minor Flood Level (4.00 metres) on Sunday.
Yarra River from Coldstream to Warrandyte: The level of the Yarra River at Yarra Glen is currently at 2.40 metres, and rising. It is expected to peak around the Minor Flood Level (4.10 metres) on Monday. Minor flooding in the Yarra/Watts River catchment is expected to affect low-lying areas adjacent to the waterway including bicycle paths.
Vic Emergency advises residents to be prepared to act if the situation changes. To stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters, while farmers should consider moving livestock and machinery to higher ground.
