Clubs get back into their groove

THE Under 16 A side of the Healesville Cricket Club scored 98 and lost to Warburton-Millgrove 158. Healesville came back to cricket with a rusty start and a lack of players.
Warburton-Millgrove went into bat on the Friday evening. S. McMahon took 4 wickets for 21 off 8 overs. M. Sawyer took 3 wickets for 38 off 8 overs, S. Twite-Moore took 2 wickets for 11 off 6.3 overs. Warburton-Millgrove was all dismissed for 154. Healesville went into bat on the Saturday morning. M. Sawyer opening batsman top scored on 35, there was a collapse of top order batsmen, with the tail enders hanging in there. S. McMahon made 29 not out.
The Warburton-Millgrove players bowled and fielded well, R. Walker 3/20, T. Taylor 1/0 off 1. Warburton defeated Healesville by 56 runs.
Best players: M. Sawyer, S. McMahon, S. Twaite-Moore, M. Taite.
U12 B: Healesville White 6/90 played Woori Yallock 3/83. On day 1, Healesville White batted first. After a few early wickets they consolidated to make a good total. Well done to T. Denby on an excellent 26 which included five fours. Also D. Sanders on an excellent 18 not out hitting his first boundary for the season.
On day 2, Woori Yallock batted Saturday morning. Woori batted well with 3 players making good scores. A. Lees did well making 22 not out. A good game by all with Woori only falling just short. Well done P. Sanders taking 1/4, D. Sanders 1/6. A special mention to C. McGrath on a match winning performance in the field.

Warburton Millgrove Cricket
Club
Strachan Shield: A welcome improved batting performance saw Warburton reach 8/249 against Coldstream with M. Walker scoring a brilliant 104. R. Ingham batted well. J. Pignataro bowled well.
In reply Coldstream struggled against a superb bowling effort from M. Walker with T. Pettard guiding them to 147.
Strachan Shield Reserve: Warburton batted first with B. Hanson returning to form with F.B. Clinch. In reply they dismissed Coldstream. A. Ireland and W. Watson our best bowlers. T. Hulm and P. McArnold both scored 37.
Strachan Shield 3: Warburton batted first and were dismissed for 119 against Launch United. T. Kelly and N. Ingham were their top scorers. G. Black bowled superbly.
U16: Warburton batted first and scored 153. T. Kelly scored 42, K. Hall 36 and J. Lewis 24. In reply they dismissed Healesville for 98. R. Walker 3 wickets and T. Kelly 2 wickets were Warburton’s best bowlers.
U14A: Batting first Warburton had a solid start before Healesville’s excellent bowling dismissed them. G. Morris top scored with 29. In reply, Healesville was hard hitting and superb running between the wickets. Warburton bowlers and fielders never gave up and played with great spirit and sportsmanship. H. Irwin and D. Hajder were their chief wicket takers.
Yarra Junction Cricket Club
Strachan Shield Reserve 4: After winning the toss Yarra Junction was off to a shaky start at 4/12. However great batting from opener Mick Oakley 57 not out, cemented an inning of 9/150. Aaron Beaven a great 40 and Josh Nightingale with a quick 12 batted beautifully. An all round bowling and fielding effort saw Healesville all out for 116. Doug Morris 4/30, G LeBrocq 3/17, Mick Oakley 2/38 and Grant Colling 1/21 all bowled well under frying hot conditions.
U14A: Yarra Junction lost the toss and bowled. Their fielding was very good. Jamie Oalkley opened the bowling taking 1/12 and S. Sanders 1/25 bowled well. K. Colling chimed in with 1/7. The most successful bowler was D. Beaven taking 2/29. Hoddles Creek making 130 from 45 overs.
Yarra Junction then batted but A. Tazzyman destroyed the batting taking 3/4 from 7 overs. J. Nightingale tried hard, scoring 13. J. Sandford made his highest score of 10 and D. Young made 6 runs, a good effort. Young Nathan Plunket batted well with wickets tumbling around him scoring 7 not out. Yarra Junction was bowled out for a paltry 68.
U12A: Yarra Junction Gold: Hoddles Creek opened batting well. Thunder and lightning threatened play and game was called short. Yarra Junction’s Jonathan took his first and second catch for the season and turned the game around.
Quinton Hodkinson and Nick Taylor took their first season catches for the season. Nick Taylor made an exceptional run out. Yarra Junction batted. Greg Ferceson scored 17 not out, Nick Taylor and Quinton Hodkinson scored 11 each. Charlie Boddinkton hit his first 4 and Tyson Casket is following on with his fourth consecutive innings not out. It was one of the most enjoyable games of the season on both sides.
Yarra Junction Green: Playing a one-day game, Yarra Junction bowled 29 overs at Warburton-Millgrove and restricted them to 7/33. E. Wadsworth 3 wickets, 2 maidens and 3 runs. T. Nightingale 1 wicket. L. Youlden 1 wicket, 2 maidens, 4 runs and C Hambley 1 wicket, 1 maiden, 2 runs were the best bowlers. Catches to T. Nightingale, D. Chandler and a run out to E. Buckley and D. Sanders. In reply Yarra Junction scored 6/96 declared from 23 overs. E. Wadsworth 30 not out. E. Buckley 16, C. Hambley 13 not out, S. Bonderenko-Edwards 13 not out were major run scorers.
