MONBULK Rangers Soccer Club’s ladies’ reserves won 5-4 in a tightly contested match against Bayswater in round six.
After delivering a poor performance in the first half the reserves were down 3-1. But a terrific effort in the second half saw goals from Rachel Sincock, Samantha Maisey and two from Amelia Pegg to win the game.
Monbulk under-13 Jackaroos lost 0-1 to Eastern United. The Jackaroos played well but were unable to break down Eastern’s strong defence.
Goalkeepers Roy Moore and Luca Kennedy kept the score to one with some brilliant saves. Samual Stapleton was player of the match.
The men’s Arrows lost 2-0 to Knox Churches Pride. A very poor first half saw the Arrows two goals down.
A change in Monbulk’s structure saw Knox rarely able to get the ball in their half, but the Arrows were unable to turn that pressure into goals.
Monbulk under-15 Dragons got the first score on the board against the Eastern Lions, in what was to be a 4-1 win to the Dragons.
Two sensational sprints by Chris Howard enabled him to score a hat trick this week. The Dragons were up 3-0 at half time.
Kaine Abela contributed the final Dragons goal from a beautiful left kick in the second half.
The Friars, the Victorian Churches Soccer Association Division 5 men’s team, played Chinese Reformed Church this week.
Although the Friars had the majority of chances they were only able to score twice.
The opposition had only four real opportunities but managed to convert twice, ending the game at a disappointing 2-2 draw.
The under-18 Pythons remained undefeated following a superb 5-2 win against second on the ladder Manningham.
Captain Jacco Kerstens scored a hat trick. James Hulbert and Geordie Scott scored the other two.
