High speed drivers nabbed

THREE high-speed vehicles have been impounded over the last week by the Yarra Valley’s traffic management unit.
One rider was caught doing speeds of 152km/h on a motorcycle through an 80 km/h speed zone in Healesville on the afternoon of 22 May.
Two vehicles were caught drag racing westbound along Maroondah Hwy at 1.30am on 16 May. They were intercepted travelling at speeds of 160km/h.
Inquiries are pending in relation to the driver of a third vehicle, who fled at the scene.
Meanwhile, a 58-year-old was taken to The Alfred hospital with head injuries following an accident at 9pm on Thursday 20 May on the Melba Highway near Dixons Creek.
The Yarra Valley Police traffic management unit will be relocating to Healesville next week in further attempts to stamp out anti-social driving behaviour.
An unmarked motorcycle and a marked car will be stationed around Healesville, after the positive results from an operation that finished in February.
