Ignition of the planned burn at Healesville is continuing today Tuesday 29 March.
This planned burn is being undertaken to provide the highest level of protection to communities, the Maroondah Reservoir catchment and the environment in the event of a bushfire.
Based on current modelling, it is likely that smoke from planned burns taking place across Melbourne may settle overnight.
If smoke is affecting your area, stay inside and keep windows and doors closed until the smoke passes. In warm weather, air conditioners may be used with the air flow set on “recycle” to prevent smoke coming inside. People with health conditions should follow their prescribed treatment plan from their doctor. Asthmatics should follow their asthma management plan and carry reliever medication with them.
