An early penalty awarded to Monbulk’s Nicole Perfect led to the first score of the match.

With just five minutes to play another defensive error allowed Melbourne to peg a goal back making it 3 – 2.
With a couple of desperate saves on the last line of defence, Monbulk managed to hang on to defeat Melbourne University for the first time.
