THE under-18 Pythons continued to dominate their soccer division with an emphatic win over DOC United 7-0 in round 11 at the weekend.
Captain Jacco Kerstens was on fire, scoring all of Monbulk’s goals.
The rest of the team played equally well, feeding the ball through the midfield to Kerstens. Patrick O’Loughlin played a stellar game in the midfield, assisting with five of the goals.
But it was a different story for the women’s senior team suffering a frustrating loss at the hands of South Springvale, going down 1-0.
The game was rather aggress-ive, with two red cards given to opposition players.
However, this did not deter Monbulk and they held their own but an unfortunate penalty gave South Springvale their chance to score and Monbulk could not convert despite numerous close calls. Amelia Pegg played a brilliant game in defence and midfield, shutting down the opposition quickly and effectively.
In the Women’s Reserves South Springvale again prevailed taking home a 1-0 victory. After a slow start, Monbulk looked dangerous in the second half but were unable to convert.
It was a disappointing loss for the side as they did not play to their full potential. Goalkeeper Marika Kamoda played an excellent game, keeping the score to one goal.
