THE Monbulk Rangers Men’s Arrows defeated Glen Eira 6-0 in a top of table clash.
James Hulbert, Josh Newman, and Ian Hulbert scored in the first half, with the Arrows dominating possession.
The second half saw Jacco Kerstens score two and Chris Wynne also slot one home from a penalty. The victory keeps the Arrows on top of the ladder.
The under-18 Pythons smashed Whitehorse 13-0, continuing their undefeated season. The Pythons controlled the game, applying constant pressure up forward. As a result, the ball was kept in the Pythons forward half for most of the game. Captain Jacco Kerstens, with seven goals, and Geordie Scott, with two, were the major scorers. Danny Ceeney, Stephen Torsello, Mark Howard and Lachy Webb contributed.
Meanwhile, the women’s reserves lost to Doncaster 3-0. Doncaster is undefeated and has not conceded a goal this season. Monbulk was slow to start and were caught flat-footed, resulting in a 3-0 score line at half time. They increased intensity in the second half, applying more pressure and making successful challenges. This enabled them to keep Doncaster scoreless after the break.
And the women’s seniors suffered a frustrating 2-0 loss at the hands of Doncaster.
Monbulk had a number of opportunities and shots on goal but were unable to convert. The game was often aggressive, but the seniors managed to hold their ground, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline at half time. Doncaster scored after a penalty was awarded and they followed with another goal late in the second half.
The final score did not represent the dynamics of the game, with Monbulk looking the more dangerous side.
