YARRA Junction’s pet shop has a naughty resident who likes to help out with the customers.
Skip, the rainbow lorikeet, likes to be the centre of attention at Mel’s Pet Barn.
Owner Melinda Irwin says the friendly lorikeet sits on her shoulder, on the cash register, or wherever he can get comfortable in the store.
Melinda has been running the business for 14 months and says customers don’t need to go any further down the line for good prices and friendly service.
Dogs and cats can be pampered with their choice of Ecopet fresh meat, Proplan and Hills dog and cat food and even Blackdog treats.
Mel says now is the time to prepare for the bird breeding season.
“We’ve got bird nests, toys, wormers, vitamins, medications and tonics,” she said.
“We also have reptile supplies, and live crickets and mealworms.”
Mel says get those fish ponds built while the rain is coming down, and fill them with large goldfish, or try some indoor tropical fish.
Mel’s Pet Barn is at Shop 3, 2455 Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction, opposite the news agency.
For any animal’s needs the opening hours are Monday 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
