HAYLEY Coleman is one of hundreds of primary school children colouring, painting and sculpting in readiness for the Yarra Valley Art Council’s annual KidsART Exhibition.
A grade six student at Coldstream Primary School, Hayley has established herself as an award-winning artist, winning the junior section of Melbourne Zoos’ Endangered Species Poster Competition earlier this year and first prize in the Whittlesea Show in 2009.
However, Hayley’s passion for art goes further than winning prizes. She said she has always loved art – and the opportunity to create new works and be part of an exhibition.
The Yarra Valley KidsART Exhibition will showcase works from up to 20 schools in the region at The Mud Factory and Jandomania Playroom in Hunter Street, Healesville.
The official opening will take place between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday, 9 October. Members of the public are invited to view the exhibition between 9 and 17 October.
KidsART has been a celebrated event on the Yarra Valley arts calendar for a number of years and is a rare opportunity for members of the wider community to enjoy the amazing depth of artistic talent found in the art rooms of local schools.
Opening times are Friday to Sunday and Wednesdays between 10am and 4pm.
Fees apply for children wishing to use the playroom at Jandomania on days other than the grand opening.
