Car nuts gear up for vintage rally

UPPER Yarra residents are being urged to ‘rev up’ their support to raise funds for Victoria’s sick children.
Cunningham’s Hotel in Yarra Junction is hosting a Vintage Car and Bike Day to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The fundraiser will be held in the grounds of the hotel on Sunday, 5 March, from midday and the event will be a fun day out for the whole family, hotel manager Liz Downey said.
“Anybody with a vintage car or bike who would like to show their vehicle is also welcome to take part,” she said.
“We’ll be holding a giant sausage sizzle and all the proceeds will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
“There will also be entertainment with blues band, The Hornet, playing live, and a host of raffles.”
Ms Downey said the hotel raised $2,300 for the Royal Children’s Hospital last year.
“We want to beat that total this year,” she said.
Yarra Junction resident, and member of the Hot Rod Hoodlums, Wayne Long, who will be displaying his 1954 Ford Tourer at the event, encouraged residents to get involved.
People interested in displaying vintage vehicles need to be on site before 11.30am.
