THE Yarra Valley Railway’s annual Halloween ghost train has developed a cult following since starting five years ago.
The fundraiser which started in 2006 with about 20 people riding the trolleys out to the reportedly haunted tunnel is increasing each year.
Thrill seekers can board the open air trolleys on Friday, 29 October and Saturday, 30 October to ride the rails between the historic Healesville railway station and the spooky tunnel at Tarrawarra.
Jack-o-lanterns, werewolves, witches, spiders, ghosts and other ghoulish characters will be part of 20 scenes, both static and ‘live’, which passengers can expect to encounter on the journey.
In true ‘cult’ tradition, many customers attend in costume, adding to the atmosphere on board the Healesville ghost train.
There are several dinner and ride or ride only options avail-able over the two days, including an earlier daylight run foryounger patrons.
The event is not recommended for children under five and children under 12 ride at the discretion of their parents.
Adults have to make up their own minds. Take the ghost train … if you dare. Bookings are essential on 0410 544 491.
