MOUNT Evelyn Netball Club won’t forget 4 September in a hurry.
It had seven teams competing on grand final day in the Lilydale and Yarra Valley Netball Association’s (LYVNA) biggest day of the year – and came away with three big wins.
And teams from Mount Evelyn lost another two grand finals by the narrowest of margins.
“The day was fantastic with many of our supporters there,” president Sheelagh Klevercamp said.
“In 20 years I have been with the highest number of teams we’ve had on grand final day.”
Nine of Mount Evelyn’s 14 teams competed in this year’s finals series, proving the depth of the club.
There were a number of individual standouts this season, including league best and fairest winners and runners-up.
Danielle Steiniger (from the under 11’s, section 1), Chloe Schmidtke (u13, section 4), Sarah Meades (u15, section 3) and Alice Paget (open, section 2) won best and fairest trophies.
Runners-up included Shelby Lewer (u11, section 4), Ashleigh Pereira (u15, section 5) and Jessica Ekins (u17, section 2).
Mount Evelyn Netball Club’s spring season began on 9 October and will be played over nine weeks. Thirteen full teams have entered for competition.
