Bombers get off to a flying start

EMERALD Cricket Club’s A Grade team travelled to Officer and was asked to bowl first.
The Bombers got off to a good start with a wicket to Daniel Porter and then a run out to Wes Wright. Then the Bombers struggled as the score reached 3/182.
Quenten Lucas was rewarded for good tight bowling as he and Tony Flint got the Bombers on a roll, which saw the score to 8/200.
Officer ended up reaching a total of 268, but the damage could have been a lot worse for the Bombers.
Lucas was the best bowler for Emerald after sending down 20 overs for the much-deserved figures of 4/51.
Mark Wheatley with 2/68 and Tony Flint (2/29) also bowled well for the Bombers.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:B Grade

The Bombers played Kooweerup at home and endured a tough day at the office. Geoff Worrell and Cam Williams bowled well early and each were rewarded with a wicket. Steve Upton came on and bowled tightly and Yo Roelink bowled well in his seven overs to claim the figures of 3/47. Jarred Gillespie was brilliant in the field and John Noonan picked up a couple of wickets, but it was a long day as Kooweerup amassed 9/371.

Needing to win the remaining games to stay in the hunt for finals, the Bombers faced fourth-placed Nyora.
Bowling first, the Bombers got off to a good start with a great run out to Kieron Thoms as Michael Borkowski was unlucky not to get a wicket in his opening spell of 11 overs (0/20). Andrew Rolfs came on and despite being crippled by a foot injury managed to bowl terrific to get three quick wickets to bring the score to 4/71. A solid partnership brought the score to 4/171. Mark Hamilton came on and with Rolfs back in the attack the Bombers looked dangerous as they cleaned up the tail. Hamilton got the good figures of 3/23 while Rolfs took 6/35 off 18 overs as Emerald dismissed Nyora for 161.
With 12 overs to bat, the Bombers unfortunately lost a wicket but are still in good shape at 1/37.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:E Grade

Playing archrival Gembrook, the Bombers bowled first and did a good job in the field.
After a quick wicket for Glazner the Bombers had to wait until the score was on 41 until the next wicket.
From there the Bombers managed to get steady wickets as they ended up dismissing Gembrook for 172 in the 35th over. For the Bombers Glazner was the best bowler with 4-37 while Kade Ely, Col McNeil, Byron Sidwell, Mick Pepi and Aaron Cameron each took a wicket. With 33 overs to bat the Bombers collapsed after a good start by Glazner and Cameron. The score fell from 0/28 to be 6/98 at stumps. Glazner was the best bat with 26.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:F Grade

The Bombers played Officer in a one-dayer and were inspired by a captain’s display by Gary Santini.
Batting first the Bombers got off to a great start with Ben Wright and Santini guiding the Bombers to 0-87 before Wright was out for an excellent 35.
Just after Wright was out Santini brought up a much-deserved brilliant 50 retired.
From there Rowan Pascoe (20) and Wayne Banks helped the Bombers reach 172. In reply the Bombers cruised to an easy victory after restricting Officer to 147.
Jeff Whyte took 3/16 while Kevin Stapleton claimed 2/16.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:U16 BLACK

The Blacks played PUT and didn’t have the best day in the field. After 40 overs they ended up making 4/223. Dan Leversha bowled well at the top of the order to get 1/24 off eight overs and Ash Lucas claimed the best figures to get 3/42 off his eight overs.
