Healesville-Yarra Glen Rd was closed between Armstrong Road and Yarra Glen Bypass in Yarra Glen due to a collision.
The road was closed for a few hours after a complex 2-vehicle collision that occurred around 11.30am on Wednesday 8 November.
SES Healesville Unit, Yarra Glen CFA, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police undertook the rescue of 2 drivers in 2 separate vehicles.
Crews worked with local stowing operators to secure one vehicle which was on its side in the water, placing the occupant at some risk if it moved.
Both drivers required extensive rescue tool work to extricate them.
One driver was airlifted by HEMS and the other by road to a Major Trauma Service.
Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
