Running hot on the pitch

By Melissa Meehan
WHILE much of the start of the 2010/2011 cricket season was washed out, the rain stayed away for the first match of the year.
Mail photographer Raylee Burns attended the match between highway rivals Warburton – Millgrove and Yarra Junction for a cracker of a match.
Players and officials seemed to lap up the high temperatures – a definite change from seeking shelter from the rain in previous months.
Despite the home advantage, Yarra Junction could not hold on, being bowled all out for 108 – three runs short of a draw.
Warburton – Millgrove’s B Woods was the best with the bat for the day, and bowler D. Egan starred with 3/24.
