HEALESVILLE couple Keith and Elaine Dossor were given an official ‘thank you’ in December for their volunteer work with Maroondah Retirement Village in Healesville.
Residents of the village, established in 1968 by the Lions Club of Healesville and other community members, presented Mr and Mrs Dossor with a framed photograph of Gulf Station in recognition of their outstanding support over a number of years.
Residents’ Association member Sheila Fuller said Mr and Mrs Dossor had gone beyond the call of duty both as members and office bearers of the committee of management, and in many ways outside of those official roles.
“Keith and Elaine, like many of the Lions members we have had on the committee over the years, are community spirited people, and they have shown that by the help they have given to individual residents and to the village,” Mrs Fuller said.
Mrs Dossor said the award was a great surprise and one she and her husband accepted as recognition not only of their involvement but of the contribution of many Lions and others over the years. “The residents are our friends and you don’t look for thanks from friends, although we were naturally very touched,” she said.
“It has been a part of the fabric of our lives. We have enjoyed doing it because we wanted to do it and I am sure that goes for every person, both Lions members and others, who have contributed.
“The beautiful presentation to Keith and I is really acknowledgment of all the work done over the past 42 years by so many people, Lions and others,” Mrs Dossor said. Management of Maroondah Retirement Village which was run by the committee of management made up largely of Lions Club members, was handed over to UnitingCare Harrison in September.
